Coaching
Coaching is dedicated time to understand who we are through exploration - taking time to get to know ourselves better.
This is often in service of a goal or outcome, and - it can simply be an investment into your self-knowledge. Coaching is growth focussed, appreciating possibilities and human potential. In a time where our space to pause, think and reflect has been hijacked by technology, it’s heartening to see people working things out in a trusted partnership, without feeling pressured.
My approach is an integration of many years’ experience and training in behavioural science; and underpinned by the simple principle that if you have time to think for yourself, you will be able to understand what’s important, grow in confidence and replace untrue limiting assumptions with true liberating ones.
“By choosing integrity, I become more whole, but wholeness does not mean perfection. It means becoming more real by acknowledging the whole of who I am.” Parker Palmer
Coaching is for anyone who wants time to think things through in order to set intentions, act with clarity, understand their values and work more effectively with stakeholders.
Typical clients are leaders in senior roles; CEOs, operational directors, heads of service, CPOs, individuals.
Coaching enables us to pay attention to our patterns, our habits, our defense mechanisms, our stories.
We look at patterns that are self-defeating, hear the stories we tell ourselves and make sense of our inner world. This work helps us look at reality in a different way, without the story, without judgement to gain clarity, momentum and focus.
Benefits include developing more compassion for ourselves and others, understanding the multiple systems at play that shape and influence us and appreciating our strengths and potential.
I offer generative attention; this means my focus is on where your mind will go next, rather than offering solutions. We see how far you can go, and then how much further to ignite new thinking and perspectives.
What does the process look like?
-
Sessions are either 60 or 90 minutes, to be agreed together.
-
Currently all sessions are online. Face to face can be arranged in mutually convenient locations if preferred.
-
It varies. Some coachees I've worked with for many years, while others find a six session package meets all their needs.
-
Group sessions are typically two hours, with up to six people, and run in blocks of eight over a 12 month period.
-
We spend time contracting, meaning we take the time to understand mutual needs and expectations and agree on a process together.
-
We begin with a three way session involving your sponsor (usually your line manager), you and me, to discuss the organisation's expectations. It's important to emphasise that the coaching conversation itself remains entirely between me and the coachee.
Kind Words
Give yourself the space to think.
Whether you're navigating a big decision, feeling pulled in too many directions, or simply craving space to think without interruption, a short pause with the right guide can change everything.
If you're interested about what uninterrupted, generative thinking time could unlock for you, let's talk.
